讲座内容:
Writing a thesis is a challenge for master students and doctoral students alike. Moreover, the process of starting and planning a doctoral research is often complicated and unclear. This discussion is designed to thesis writers of all kinds but specifically to doctoral student candidates or those interested in doctoral studies. The purpose is to provide perspectives from different countries how doctoral studies are organised and structured and how students need to develop their overall plan and strategy to cope with the research and publication challenges. There are multiple ways of achieving this goal and these can be very context-dependent. Thus, it is important for students to clarify their personal intentions and plans in the research word and find the right setting to realize their research process. Today, this setting is often getting more international and research work more co-created than ever before. Students have advanced possibilities due to technologies and global cooperation. The presentation starts from getting a doctoral study position and setting research questions to ways of publishing and reporting findings and making an impact. Finally, the aspect of making an impact or difference is discussed to avoid the researcher’s nightmare, the "so-what"-question.
